URBIS24

Rome, 16–18 September

URBIS24 takes place during September 16–18, 2024 at ESA ESRIN in Frascati, close to Rome. The event is co-hosted by ESA, OECD, UN-Habitat, ICLEI and Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy Europe. Registration to URBIS24 is open until August 30th, so claim your spot while you can!

URBIS24 gathers a diverse community from different sectors; urban experts and policymakers, Earth Observation researchers and academia, remote sensing service providers, NGOs and various end-users, offering an insightful exploration of urban challenges and innovative remote sensing solutions. URBIS24 is focused on topics of remote sensing methodology, data and applications for producing actionable insights for urban management. Participants in the event can identify urban challenges and priorities for decision-makers in the context of urban planning, adaptation and livability, and foster new collaborations in the conference and related workshops. Echoing both the goal of SPACE4Cities and the purpose of URBIS24, the joint ESA-EU Space Council’s Conclusions of 23 May 2024 recalled at the top political level:

  • “the importance of open, fair and transparent public procurement processes which support the development of a diversified and innovative European space industry;”
  • “public authorities can support the development of new business opportunities in space;”
  • “the importance of public authorities having adequate access to the necessary data and capabilities to implement policies and enable space-related services with the required level of independence, reliability and cost-efficiency”.

SPACE4Cities consortium will be present in URBIS24 to check out the State of the Art, ongoing projects and of course to promote the ongoing Open Market Consultation and upcoming Call for Tenders happening in Q1 of 2025.
